Things to Do in Pamukkale

One of the most famous things to do in Pamukkale is visit the travertine hills. These white, calcified hills fall down the hill's side.

Stepping inside, you can bathe and relax in the knee-deep water, feeling the smooth, warm stones under your feet and taking in the views of the valley below.

St. Philip's Tomb: Behind the theatre lies the tomb of Apostle St. Philip is located behind the theater. A gravel path leads to the Byzantine-era church ruins.

Temple of Apollo & City Gate: Notable landmarks include the city gate and the Temple of Apollo, near Cleopatra’s Pool. The well-preserved ruins offer a magnificent view of the theatre.

Plutonium: South of the Temple of Apollo is the Plutonium, dedicated to Pluto, the Roman god of the underworld. Ritual animal sacrifices occurred here. Interesting fact: poisonous volcanic gas leaks from the cave, earning it the name "Gate to Hell" in ancient times.

The crown jewel of the ancient city of Hierapolis is the Grand Theatre of Hierapolis, one of Turkey's best-preserved ancient theatres. 

If you go to the very top row of seats, you can see the entire structure and the land around it in amazement.

The Hierapolis Archaeology Museum is a fascinating look into previous eras of the area.

Kaklık Cave is a secret gem 30 kilometres from Pamukkale. It has beautiful travertine formations and clear water.

Often referred to as the "Underground Pamukkale," it provides a distinct, refreshing haven with striking stalactites and stalagmites. For those who enjoy natural wonders, the 30- to 40-minute trip from Pamukkale makes it a worthy visit.
